Cake is a Vietnamese digital bank with over 6 million users, building toward becoming a NextGen AI Bank, where data and AI are at the core of every product and decision. Our models drive real decisions: who gets credit, and which financial products reach which customers. We're looking for a Senior Data Scientist who is excellent at building predictive models, keeps getting better by learning new techniques and testing them on real problems, and always brings the work to the finish line on time.

What You'll Do

• Build and improve predictive models (core of the role). Design, develop, evaluate, and optimize models for Credit Scoring, Financial Services Recommendation, and other business problems. This includes feature engineering, algorithm selection, validation, calibration, interpretability, and bias checks.
• Bring new techniques into practice, with a clear timebox. Follow advances in ML and statistics, and test the ones worth trying against strong baselines. We encourage exploration, but you decide how much time a new idea deserves and ship the best solution that meets the deadline, not the most sophisticated one. Share what you learn with the team.
• Work with the business and engineering, and deliver. Understand business goals and pain points with stakeholders, and help prioritize where models add value. Own your projects end to end: set realistic scope and timelines, work with engineers and partner teams to deploy and monitor your models (hands-on or by driving the work with their support), and flag risks early.

What We're Looking For

Must-have

Background

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in data science, or in data/AI engineering with a clear move into modeling.

Modeling depth (core)

• Hands-on experience building predictive models that went to production, with strong statistics and ML fundamentals and rigorous evaluation (leakage, imbalance, drift, calibration).
• Strong Python and SQL, with scikit-learn, gradient boosting libraries, and at least one deep learning framework (PyTorch or TensorFlow).
• Working knowledge of model deployment (packaging, batch vs. real-time serving, APIs, versioning, monitoring and retraining) and the ability to write production-quality code and collaborate with engineers to ship it.

Practical learning

• Picks up new methods or papers, applies them to real problems, and measures whether they beat the baseline.
• Timeboxes exploration and knows when to stop experimenting and ship a good-enough solution.

Getting things done

• Owns projects from idea to production, sets realistic scope and timelines, and delivers on schedule.
• Balances exploration with delivery by shipping a solid baseline first and iterating after, and raises risks and trade-offs early instead of letting deadlines slip.
• Moves work across teams by aligning priorities and unblocking dependencies without relying on formal authority.

Nice-to-have

• Hands-on experience deploying and operating models end to end (MLOps tooling, CI/CD, Docker, cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Experience in credit risk or recommender systems.
• Experience with experimentation / A/B testing, or with LLMs and GenAI applied to practical problems.
