AML Analyst (Data & Rule Development)
Risk Management Center
HO
Job Summary
We are looking for an AML Analyst with strong SQL and data skills to build and maintain AML detection rules on a modern data stack (Google BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, Git). The role sits at the intersection of compliance and data: translating AML business requirements into production-ready SQL logic, ensuring monitoring controls run reliably, and supporting the team with information requests. Experience in banking, finance or fintech is an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
AML Rule Development & Data Pipelines
- Translate AML business requirements (transaction monitoring scenarios, customer risk rating, list screening logic and other AML controls) into SQL rules and data models on Google BigQuery.
- Build, test and maintain dbt models for AML rules, alert generation and supporting datasets, following coding standards and documentation practices.
- Develop and maintain Airflow DAGs to schedule and orchestrate AML rule execution and data pipelines; monitor job runs and resolve failures in a timely manner.
- Manage code using Git (version control, branching, code review, pull requests) to ensure all rule changes are traceable and auditable.
- Implement data quality checks to ensure the completeness and accuracy of data feeding AML controls.
Rule Performance & Monitoring Support
- Analyze alert volumes, trends and rule performance (e.g. hit rate, false positive rate) to support threshold and scenario tuning.
- Perform testing, back-testing and post-implementation validation to ensure rules and changes operate as intended.
- Build reports and dashboards to support AML monitoring, management reporting and periodic reviews.
- Maintain technical documentation for rule logic, data lineage and change history.
Regulatory & Authority Requests
- Extract, compile and provide customer and transaction information in response to requests from regulatory and competent authorities, ensuring accurate, complete and timely submissions.
- Support data requests from internal audit, risk management and other internal stakeholders.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other AML-related duties and projects as assigned by the manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or related fields.
- At least 2 years of experience in data analytics, analytics engineering, data engineering or a similar role.
- Strong SQL skills (complex joins, CTEs, window functions, query optimization); hands-on experience with Google BigQuery is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with dbt, Git and Airflow (or similar orchestration tools).
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical logic, with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Fast learner with the ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables.
Nice to Have
- Experience in banking, finance, fintech, payment service providers or e-wallets.
- Knowledge of AML/CFT regulations, transaction monitoring or financial crime compliance.
Our benefit:
- Competitive compensation including a 13th-month wage and up to 3 months of performance-based bonus.
- Laptop and essential equipment are provided.
- BE Corp budget (vary from your level) is allocated for using services such as transportation, food, and passenger car bookings in Be application.
- Annual health checks
- Premium medical healthcare (PTI) after probation.
- 15 days of annual leave is applied for the entire staff.
- Company trips, team-building activities, and happy hour events are organized on a quarterly or annual basis.
